I recently cut all of my hair off (again) because that’s how
I like it. But I keep getting the same question from my friends and family
which is probably the same question burning the lips of almost every person
that stares at me when I pass them by WHY? But my question is WHY NOT?
I have said this before and I will say it again I am not my
hair! Hair does not define who I am
as a woman, a mother, a daughter, as a sister or a friend. It does not shape my
personality or mold me into who I am destined to become. My hair length and texture
won’t determine my class and status in society, it may make me more “acceptable”
in some people’s eyes but I am not looking for their acceptance.
I know who I am and who I want to be and believe me society
plays no role and has no say so. I am going to continue to love my me and what
makes me who I am. Whoever does not like it…oh well. Take it to someone who is
willing to listen because it definitely is not me.
